Geothermal energy can do more than just heat our homes in Canada, it can also provide clean, baseload and dispatchable electricity to our grid. Geothermal electricity is always on, regardless of the weather, it generates near-zero greenhouse gas emissions, and it can be deployed in both rural and urban areas. Using current drilling techniques, geothermal electricity is available in Canada’s western provinces and territories and numerous projects are already underway. With advances in drilling technology, geothermal electricity could be available Canada-wide.
