National Market Lead – Wind & Discipline Manager – Structural WSP in Canada Quebec City, Quebec, Canada
The first generation of Canadian wind farms are approaching their original serviceable life, leaving independent power producers (IPPs) with an important decision regarding their next steps. Owners are faced with decisions regarding how to best continue delivering invaluable clean energy resources at these projects, be it through re-powering, life extension, or re-development. It’s a decision that must be carefully and proactively considered with commercial, technical, social, and environmental impacts in mind. This session will develop on the importance of performing engineering studies and evaluating the remaining useful life of the system, with focus on what’s buried, namely the wind turbine foundations, is a crucial first step in the decision-making process.
