The way we use energy is changing rapidly, the accelerating adoption of renewable energy and electric vehicles (EVs) comes with opportunities and challenges. The technology to ease this transition is advancing and will allow us to fully embrace both renewable energy and EVs and make both a source of resiliency and stability for electrical infrastructure. Currently the intermittent generation of renewable energy can be hard to predict and may result in instability in the electrical grid if it is not supported by traditional energy sources that are more reliable. Further EVs are increasing demand on the grid and creating demand peaks as EV owners come home, plug in and start using more electricity in their homes. We will discuss how Artificial Intelligence can be applied to this complex problem to ease the transition to EVs while allowing for the utilization of more renewable energy reducing costs and providing a non wires alternative to managing the electrification of everything.
