Maike Althaus is the Executive Director of Hydrogen Ontario, one of currently three affiliates of the Canadian Hydrogen Association (CHA). In this role she aspires to unlock the tremendous opportunities for hydrogen in the province - a $10 B market by 2050 which is ¼ of the total projected market in Canada. Maike has been working in the global clean technology sector for over 15 years and has a background in communications, government relations and stakeholder engagement. Prior to joining the CHA, Maike served as Executive Director of Canada Cleantech Alliance as well as the Ontario Clean Technology Industry Association (OCTIA) where she addressed the sector’s key challenges: access to capital, markets and customers. Between 2011 and 2018, Maike built a wind turbine manufacturer’s brand across North America and supported its growth. Maike is fluent in French, English and German and has been communicating in Germany, Canada and the U.S. for global companies such as Senvion, Veolia Water, Viessmann, E.ON and BNP Paribas Cardif as well as for governments, politicians and not-for-profits.
