Scott is an experienced regulatory and environmental lawyer with Blake, Cassels & Graydon LLP in Calgary, Alberta. His practice focuses on project-related natural resource development, environmental law, energy regulation and Indigenous law issues. Scott represents clients in regulatory proceedings to obtain approvals for major projects in the wind, solar, battery storage and electricity transmission sectors. He has been involved with some of the largest and most contentious renewable energy proceedings before the Alberta Utilities Commission, including as legal counsel for the Renewable Generators Alliance in the recent AUC Inquiry into the ongoing economic, orderly and efficient development of electricity generation in Alberta. In addition to guiding proponents through the project approval process, he also advises on a variety of other matters that arise across the lifecycle of renewable energy projects, including stakeholder consultation, decommissioning and reclamation requirements, operational legal compliance, regulatory investigations, evolving policy considerations and transactional issues.
