Minoo Shariat-Zadeh is a seasoned electrical engineer with over two decades of experience spanning manufacturing, consulting engineering, and research and development. Currently serving as a project lead for the Smart Microgrid Applied Research Team (SMART) within BCIT's Centre for Applied Research and Innovation, Minoo plays a pivotal role in advancing microgrid and energy management systems.
In her capacity at SMART, Minoo leads and collaborates on projects that focus on integrating renewable energy sources with existing power systems, both in grid-connected and off-grid environments. She is actively involved in initiatives aimed at electrifying rural and remote communities and developing electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Her research interests include smart grids, clean energy technologies, energy efficiency, and control and automation systems. Additionally, Minoo contributes to BCIT's academic offerings by collaborating with various schools to develop and deliver courses related to smart grids and clean energy.
Minoo professional affiliations include membership in Engineers and Geoscientists British Columbia (EGBC) and senior membership in the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE)
